And fancied handsome young chiefs.
Rejecting her company incurred her wrath,
And her angry stomping shook the ground
Before an eruption.
Her priestesses wore robes
With burnt sleeves and hems
And carried Paoa staffs to dig volcanic craters.
Discovered again by Captain Cook
From a Europe of Mozart and Goethe,
Driven by Watt's steam engine,
Her oceanic culture was submerged with tourist trash
And her harbor with ruined warships.
